“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Phil. 4:6-7

Worry and anxiety can be crippling. Circumstances can easily limit the horizon of your view preventing you from moving forward and limiting possibilities and freedom in your life.  Like a thick fog closing in around a ship and causing it to drop anchor, anxiety can envelop our lives and prevent us from seeing any way forward.

Sometimes it appears to come from nowhere and makes us feel powerless to change where we are. When you try to do something about it, the anxiety seems to grow and the harder you strain to change your situation, the more helpless it appears. Paul reminds us that there is a peace, a ‘shalom’ found in God that is beyond any explanation.

The peace of God is not subject to circumstances and does not necessarily mean that the external appearance of things will change. But when you wholeheartedly present all your life and experiences to God, leaving no situation behind, He has promised that the fog will clear and that He will set up guard over your heart and mind.

Cast all you cares on Him because He cares for you. The ‘shalom’ of God will burn away the fog and widen the horizon of your view in Him.
