"Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.” Colossians 4:6
Being part of a church that focuses on God’s unmerited love and grace has undoubtedly changed my life and the lives of my family and many others. Knowing that despite my mistakes and failures, God’s love for me doesn’t change and He is always desiring the best for me and my life, is the greatest revelation I have received.
How we interact with each other should reflect this. The grace we have received, should flow outwards towards others. In our various relationships in church or outside, Paul is saying our words should mirror the same qualities of love and grace that we have received from God. The words that come from our mouths reflect upon us more than any other facet of our lives. When we gossip or judge others are those words "seasoned"? Are we demonstrating the Spirit of grace in our lives?
This week, resolve to strengthen, uplift and encourage your brothers and sisters with your words, while also displaying to unbelievers that there is something different about us in our conduct. We can demonstrate how the love and grace of Jesus has changed us and we will bring glory to His Kingdom.
