So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! Matthew 7:11
I was recently under pressure and this was impacting on the time I was spending with God. Work demand was outstripping my personal capacity to keep up and I was feeling overwhelmed. This resulted in the return of old thought patterns - believing things weren’t going well because I wasn’t spending enough time with God.
Have you ever felt like that?
Then I remembered that God loved me first, loved me before I was born, loved me before I was saved, loved me before I loved him, loved me when He knew all my shortcomings and failings. I thought of my children and how I love them so much, are they perfect – no, are they well behaved – not always, do they always do what I say – no, but I love them, I provide for them, I want the best for them.
God is a good Father, He loves me more than I love my children, He wants the best for me and His blessing is not based on how I feel about my spiritual performance.
When my perspective changed the feeling of being under pressure left. Am I still busy – yes, but I’m no longer overwhelmed!
