"How can a young person live a clean life? By carefully reading the map of your Word." Psalm 119:9 MSG

In the Western world we are bombarded with choices, decisions and diversions every day, fifteen types of coffee when we enter the coffee shop, 150 television channels to choose from and deciding  which cute cat video we should watch next on our phones, tablets and laptops.

Young people have to balance all these distractions with the decision as to whether they should listen to their peers, their parents, the internet or what is popping up on their mobile phone.

The Psalmist’s question is as relevant today and it was thousands of years ago.  As parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles and friends we need to step up and model out lives of commitment to reading the map of God’s Word.  Our relationship with God has to have reality and integrity – if we live as if God loves us then that will shine through and encourage and inspire the young people we come in contact with so they too will desire that reality in their own lives.

This morning take a moment to think about the young people in your life, whether you are related to them or just see them in your neighbourhood – ask God for that opportunity to bless, encourage and inspire them to make the right choices.
