“But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 1Cor 1:27 (NIV)

God’s view of things is so different to ours. It is easy to think that if only we can be stronger or smarter then we will be more successful and effective.  Grace turns that on its head – God loves to do things upside down. In weakness (from a human perspective) we are strong, when we are foolish (from a human perspective) we are truly wise.

The whole point is to remind us that we can’t do anything on our own efforts – it has to be God. Our perceived strength is an illusion and, as Paul says in verse 25 of the same chapter, ‘less than God’s weakness’. Yet repeatedly, I think that God needs me to provide a safety net for Him just incase He isn’t able to deliver on His promises…

God loves to show His power and love in our lives – we just need to rely on Him not ourselves. Are you feeling worn out and frustrated? Are you relying on your own strength or wisdom to get the breakthrough you need? Leave space for God’s strength and wisdom in your life – when we are weak, we are at our strongest.
