We live in a noisy world.
Everyday we are bombarded by various forms of media and advertising as they jostle for our attention. We also face the competing demands of busy family and work lives and on top of this we can add our social lives and other commitments.
Sometimes, it seems, there are just not enough hours in the day!
In all of our busyness, we need to discover the benefit of taking time out, to step back from the daily clamour and take a few moments of quiet.
Often I have found that it is in the quiet that God frequently speaks because He has my attention. When the noise and distraction is shut out for a few moments, the whisper becomes clear and, like Elijah, I hear it.
Hearing it clearly provides us with the encouragement, direction and support we need as we seek to live day by day for Him.
Today, take the time to be quiet and listen out for the whisper of God.
