‘Remember that the Lord rescued you from the iron-smelting furnace of Egypt in order to make you His very own people and His special possession…’ Deuteronomy 4:20
Now and again I like to take my old photo albums off the bookshelf and flick through them. Looking at those pictures brings back all sorts of memories – reminding me of the past and helping me to realise how much has changed.
At the start of this new day take a moment to remind yourself of a time in your life when you were in the heat of the furnace and God stepped in and made a difference.
The Israelites were rescued from slavery and led to the Promised Land. You might have thought they would never forget such a dramatic divine intervention – but they did. They had to be reminded more than once that they belonged to God and that He had literally parted the waves to bring them to freedom.
You are God’s very own, His special possession – rescued from the furnace. Never forget it!
