“…We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives.” Col 1:9 (NIV)
We live in the era of big data, where information is more readily available than ever. No matter where I am, within a minute (phone coverage permitting) I can access answers to just about any question. Here Paul reminds us that knowing God is much more important than any other knowledge we might gain.
It is so important that Paul prayed continually for the Colossians to be filled with the knowledge of God’s will. We need it all the time in everything we face. The big distinction is that it is not simply ‘head knowledge’ but knowledge that has made the journey from head to heart and into action. It is knowledge from God accompanied by wisdom and understanding.
It is so easy to look at circumstances and try to evaluate them with our reason or to just ‘ask Google’. But the Holy Spirit is our greatest source of knowledge.
Today if you are looking for wisdom and understanding – seek that which is given by the Spirit of God. What questions are you facing? God’s Spirit is continually with you to provide guidance and insight. There are no ‘dead spots’ where the signal is lost; your Father in heaven is with you everywhere.
God loves to bless and provide insight to His children; we just need to open our hearts to receive it.
