Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God.  Romans 4:20

As we have been unpacking the faith of Abraham this week, we have seen that God’s promise was given in grace and received by faith in the context of a hopeless situation in the natural.  Abraham did not allow his faith to be weakened by focusing on the fact that he was 100 years old and Sarah was infertile.

Abraham totally believed the promise of God and resisted the temptation to doubt even when it looked like there was absolutely no hope of him and Sarah ever having a child.  His faith was strengthened as he continued to give glory to God for the promise.

James chapter 1 describes a person who ‘doubts’ and likens them to ‘a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind’ and goes on to say that this person is ‘double-minded.’  Unlike this wave, Abraham did not waver as he refused the temptation to doubt, remaining single-minded in his belief in the promise of God.

Today, as we look afresh at God’s promises in our lives and the factual circumstances of our current situation, let’s also resolve to be single-minded in our belief in the promises of God.  Let's send doubt packing as we continue to give glory to God for His promises, He is the promise giver and the promise fulfiller.
