Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham’s offspring—not only to those who are of the law but also to those who have the faith of Abraham.  Romans 4:16

This week we are going to be looking at the faith of Abraham to see what we can learn and apply to our own walk of faith, ensuring we receive the fulfilment of all of God’s wonderful promises in our lives.

Faith always begins with the word of God (the promise).  Faith comes from hearing the word of God (Romans 10:17).  God told Abraham he would be the ‘father of many nations’, Abraham heard the promise and faith arose in his heart even though he had no children!

It is also important to note that the promise is given in grace (unmerited favor).  There was nothing Abraham did, or could do, to make him worthy or deserving of the promise.  He simply believed what God said and was then deemed righteous to receive the promise.

As we search God’s word we find promises of forgiveness, eternal life, righteousness, household salvation, health, strength, prosperity, peace, joy, wisdom, success (and the list goes on...).  Know that God’s promises are given in grace and received by faith.  There is nothing you can do to earn them, just believe and you will receive.
