"Do not be afraid; you will not be put to shame. Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated. You will forget the shame of your youth and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood.

Isaiah 54:4

Fear is a prison that many of us allow ourselves to live in. The doors are not locked but we dare not venture out because the "what ifs" feel too overwhelming to bear.

What people think of us can be one of the most crippling fears we have to deal with. It is a tactic the enemy uses often as he knows it works so well. We can allow how others see us or probably more accurately how we believe others see us to become more important than how God sees us.

We will never live an abundant life where we can discover who God has really made us to be if we don't first mediate on who He says we are and what incredible value He has placed on our lives. When we are confident of this the fear of what others think will no longer hold us captive because we understand whose we are.

Moreover, as our trust in the Lord increases, we realise that there is no shame, no humiliation. All condemnation was dealt with at the cross and we are truly free to thrive in life.

Today take captive every thought that tells you anyone's opinion of you defines you.

You belong to your Heavenly Father and he has paid an incredible price to call you his child. You are worth it!
