Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.Philippians 1:6

I tend to be someone who feels overly responsible. If things don't get done I tend to try and jump in and fix them, which doesn't always solve the long-term problem!

Sometimes we can take on too much responsibility when it comes to our Christian walk. We take on burdens that God never intended us to shoulder. We concern ourselves with how to find out God’s will for our lives and then get ourselves tied in knots wondering which way to turn. At times, we think we can't hear God and we often end up confused, disappointed or resentful of others.

When we meditate on this verse the pressure starts to lift. We are not the ones responsible for making all this happen. It is the Lord who starts the good work in us and it is Him who will bring it to completion.

Our job is simply to rest and take hold of the opportunities that God has placed before us with all our heart, energy and strength.

That unsettled sense of having to do it ourselves is like a warning light on a car – it is a signal that somewhere inside we have lost confidence in God's incredible love and care for us. We start to think that God will not come through for us.

Today allow Gods word to wash and cleanse you from unbelief. Fill your heart afresh with the eternal hope that you are called for an incredible purpose and that God will perfect His work in you.
