Psalm 69:30-31

"I will praise the name of God with song And magnify Him with thanksgiving."

When I was a kid my parents bought me a small microscope for one of my birthdays. It was probably an attempt by them to take my eyes off games for a while and experiment with something new. For a toy, I remember it being quite effective and spent many an hour exploring our garden to find objects that could be examined under a new light.

Magnification doesn't make objects bigger, it alters our perception of an object, making it appear bigger to us. Sometimes problems in life can look big and difficult to deal with. Even though we know our God is greater than our problems, they can easily cause us to worry and stress.

David tells us to magnify God, to make Him more important in our life. Nothing we can do will make God more powerful or more holy than he already is, but how we see God can change our perspective of the problem. Giving thanks and praising Jesus for what he has already accomplished on the cross will shift our focus onto the one who can defeat any problem.

Whatever the problem - health, financial, relationship - our Father is bigger than them all. Remember how He has been faithful to you in the past, and start praising His name and see him magnified in your life.
