"Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” Mark 1:35

As you begin to read this, pause a second and listen. What can you hear?  Chances are, there is some sort of noise filling your ears and head, whether it's a TV or Radio, maybe people’s voices or just the noise of life around you.

It's a challenge in this busy life to find solitude and silence. I recently visited "Silent Valley" outside Newcastle and it lived up to its name. As I sat in its grounds, there wasn't a sound apart from the trees in the breeze and the birds singing.

Very quickly, my mind and thoughts turned to God, and His amazing creation that we enjoy every day and how blessed and loved we are. When the noise of the world is silenced, fellowship with God becomes easy. He longs to spend time with us His children and for us to fellowship with Him, but the world around us constantly robs our time and attention and God has to compete against these distractions. Jesus knew this, and even He had to find solitude and quiet to commune with His Father.

Take the time this week to get away from the noise of life, somewhere in the still and quiet where God can fellowship with you and you will hear in your heart Him speaking to you and there you can enjoy his presence and rest in His love.
