Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”  Romans 4:18

Yesterday we saw that the promise was given in grace and receive by faith.  God had told Abraham he would be the ‘father of many nations’ and Abraham believed God.  Yet there was no evidence of the promise in Abraham’s life.  In fact the opposite was true, he had no children, he was 100 years old and his wife Sarah was 90 years old and infertile.

Abraham faced a hopeless situation that contradicted the promise of God, yet he chose to combat this hopeless situation with hope in a God who was greater than his circumstances and a God who was able to bring to pass what He had promised.

What has God promised you?  Is it one of God’s generic promises for all believers or is it something more specific to your life journey?  Are you living in the fulfilment of His promises, or are you facing contradictory circumstances that are telling you that there is ‘no hope’?  There are no hopeless situations with God.  Today, like Abraham, choose to hope in a God who is well able to bring to pass what He has promised in your life.
