Guard and keep yourselves in the love of God

Don’t let Love slip
As a dad of young kids it never ceases to amaze me how one minute they can be full of excitement and how in an instant there can be tears that would make you think that the world is about to come to and end. All in the space of a few moments. Likewise your emotions today will probably lead you to many different places. That is normal. There will be times of happiness, anticipation, anxiety or fear. We all know what it is like to experience a change in our emotional state thought the day. Living like that can be tiring & draining.
Today we will have thoughts, circumstances & people that will input into our lives and either build us up or be a negative influence. The way to go beyond allowing that sort of impact on our lives is to keep ourselves (here in this verse literally “guard, maintain, preserve”) ourselves in the love of God. When we are grounded in the unassailable truth that God loves us perfectly & completely our state will be joy & peace. We must make an effort to focus on that truth.
We must guard our hearts against everything that tries to undermine the fact that God loves us. Speak to yourself today and say that God’s love is true no matter what comes your way. Keep mindful & focused that He loves you!
