Jesus answered him, "You would have no authority over me at all unless it had been given you from above. John 19:11
So often we are confronted by challenges which are beyond our control and very soon panic sets in. If we look too long at the problem and meditate on it we begin to magnify it. Before long we have lost sight of God and his promises and we are overwhelmed by the mountain we have created in our minds.
In this verse I am reminded of the fact that God is above it all. Even as Jesus was confronted with the people who held worldly authority and were planning his death he understood that even their choices were only possible because his Father had given them that authority. There is no name higher than the name of Jesus. He took on every evil force at work in our lives and he has won the battle.
I know that I need to constantly keep his finished work before me. If the thoughts about yourself or your situation are not good ones you know that God has not put them there. Meditate on His greatness today and get things back in their right perspective.
