“We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.” Romans 12:6-8

Each of us has been given gifts by God; gifts to connect people to Jesus. Different gifts that build and equip the body of the Church. I love the breadth of gifts that are listed by Paul, there is no one way to serve God and you can be assured that this list is not meant to be exhaustive.

These verses suggest that you will not be as effective if you try to operate in areas that are not consistent with the gifts God has given you. I don’t know about you but I find this liberating. Since God knows me better than anyone and He has given me gifts that are just right for me, all I have to do is to be myself and use what He has given me to build the kingdom. I don’t have to try to be something or someone else.

These verses encourage us to use the gifts God has given. Whatever your gift may be – exercise it! What are you good at? What do you love to do? Then do it for God!
