Let the peace of Christ [the inner calm of one who walks daily with Him] be the controlling factor in your hearts [deciding and settling questions that arise]. To thispeaceindeed you were called as members in one body [of believers]. And be thankful [to God always]. Colossians 3:15

Rest is much, much more than the absence of physical activity. Have you ever lain in bed, seemingly relaxed, but your mind is going nineteen to the dozen full of anxiety and concern.  Maybe you’ve found yourself in the office seemingly on top of your workload but in reality you are stressed up to the max and wondering how you’re going to make it to 5 o’clock!

Someone once said ‘whatever the question is, the answer’s Jesus’. That could be passed off as a glib saying but there’s real truth in that.  If we learn to walk in the inner calm of the peace of Christ we will no longer react to every concern, worry, stresser in our lives in the same manner we received it but we will respond in a Christ like way because it’s Him who controls our responses not the situation we are in.  This is possible for every believer – not because of anything we’ve done but because of the Christ that dwells within us.

Whatever’s ahead of you today – just remember let the Christ within respond with peace and rest.
