Matthew 6:26. Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
I’ve been a fan of Musicals since I’ve been no age. For me it’s always been about the songs. So much emotion can be conveyed through music and lyrics that we find ourselves identifying with characters and their stories.
One of the latest in a new wave of musicals to take the world by storm has been Hamilton, the biopic of Alexander Hamilton, an orphan who grows up to be a key figure in the American War of Independence, a declaration signatory. The whole musical centres around the theme of History and who tells the correct version, one line stands out as “Who lives, who dies, who tells your story”
As we move into 2017 we can tend to have a focus on our own personal narratives. Who tells our stories? Will our actions have any kind of an effect on the other people and interests we care about.
Everything in this fantastic narrative of God’s love for us points to his son Jesus. It’s all about him. Jesus reminds us that the birds of the air do not sow or reap or store in their barns and yet they are fed. When we focus our attention on him, on his word and live to uphold the honour of His Name and for His glory everything else falls into place.
You may feel like you are not making your mark, that you’re not able to move forward with your dreams. As you concentrate your focus on Christ everything will begin to fall into place. With Jesus as your salvation and your provider your life will effortlessly grow and reflect his honour and glory.
As 2017 can be the year of our Victory, remember that if we align ourselves to His ways, not our ways, His thoughts not our thoughts then victory will be effortlessand His name, not ours will be raised above all.
