Ephesians 3:17-19

“so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”

This week we’ve been working through our most recent series Grow. It’s a series of steps to encountering, discovering, growing and thriving in Christ. It’s an amazing series and has really inspired us to really grapple with the idea of our identity being rooted and grounded in Christ.

Sometimes growth doesn’t seem like it’s happening. We’ve seen this in school lately with a brief soil type experiment. The children have had some cress seeds and planted them in acidic soil, alkaline soil and neutral soil to see the different outcomes.

For days the children looked at the cress seeds and very little was happening, by the time they got to the third day, BOOM! The seeds had exploded. Even the seeds that were planted in sand that really weren’t meant to work had grown inexplicably. As the children found out it was actually all to do with depth and water. The seeds that were planted deep in the right soil with sufficient water and nutrients performed well.

There’s a lesson in this for us, we only grow when we are planted deep and fed well. Over feeding can lead to being ineffectual if we don’t have an outlet to share this wealth of revelation and discovery but when we do, we thrive.

Make sure you’re planted deep and watered well today, share the deeply rooted and grounded revelation of your identity in Christ with those around you and begin to thrive. Like the cress seeds you’ll multiply boundlessly.
