For if by one man’s offence death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift or righteousness will reign in life through the one, Jesus Christ” Rom 8:17

God’s love for us is so great that He not only wants us to encounter and have a relationship with Him but He also wants us to grow into the life to which He has called us. God gives us an abundance of grace – more than enough for our problems, flaws and hang-ups. But even more than that - He makes us righteous so we can reign in life.

In churches we are familiar with the concept that Salvation is a message especially for sinners, about a transition from death to life and that it is a gift of grace through faith not of works.  But this is only a small part of what salvation really means.

God’s plan for salvation is so much more rich and varied than we usually portray. At Exchange Church we often mention the Greek word for salvation soteria (sozo) as meaning so much more than being delivered from hell. God’s salvation for us is so far reaching, so magnificent. In fact, it is beyond limiting to think of it solely in terms of being delivered from hell or going to heaven when you die.

Today, take time to appreciate that the life god has for you is not just an escape from punishment but a journey to grow into the place where you will reign in life. Salvation is not only forgiveness of sin but the mitigation of all of its effects. Encountering God is the first step – He is now calling you to grow in Him and to enter into the fullness of the salvation He has for you.
